Luna Moth T-Shirt

Luna moths are hard to miss once you’ve seen one… pale green wings, long trailing tails, and a wingspan that can stretch over four inches. They’re found across the eastern half of the U.S., but most people never actually see one, partly because adult luna moths only live about a week. They don’t even have mouths, their entire adult life is spent finding a mate and laying eggs before time runs out.

Like a lot of moths, luna moths are sensitive to light pollution, which can throw off their ability to find each other at night, along with habitat loss and pesticide use. Their numbers aren’t as tracked or talked about as some other species, which makes it easy to overlook that they’re facing real pressure too.
